Does ambient light affects ir illuminator performance?

Infrared illuminator produces the same amount of light regardless of the ambient light at the scene. However, ambient light has a great impact on the camera’s ability to see IR light.

Ambient (visible) light dilutes the IR light making it less dense, which impacts its performance. It’s similar to using a conventional flashlight during the day – even though it’s on, there’s not a real difference.
